The Park’s local centre that will serve as the heart of this wonderful community has officially opened and has already welcomed its first customers. The centre is managed and operated by YMCA, who will also run the children’s day nursery.
As well as a fabulous selection of delicious food and drinks that are being served daily in the café, there’s a packed programme of activity for all ages, which kicked off this morning with an energetic Boogie Bounce class in the hall.
Tilly Johnson is the YMCA’s Centre Manager and is looking forward to seeing the new facilities come to life with residents from the Park and close by.
‘This superb space is now bustling with people,’ said Tilly as she served customers from the well-stocked counter. ‘There’s so much for everyone to do here and it’s a great place for family and friends to meet up. There’s plenty of parking and it’s just a walk from the new homes so we’re expecting the centre to be a vibrant and convenient place to get together.’
The centre will also be home to the 11th Eastleigh Scout Group, which will meet for the first time at its new home this week and the nursery children who will move over to their three fabulous nursery rooms after half term next month. Upstairs a divisible meeting room is available for hire by businesses and those wanting to host events. The centre also holds a licence to serve alcohol for parties.
For those looking to improve their health and fitness, the centre’s busy weekly programme offers yoga, Slimming World meetings, Parent and Toddler Groups and various dance fitness classes, including Zumba, DDMIX and a great schedule for younger dancers. A Youth Club and Art Project is coming soon.
The new health space on the first floor is available for healthcare professionals, such as physiotherapists and counsellors who are keen to offer beautiful new treatment rooms to their clients.
The café currently opens at 9am until 6pm but these opening hours will be extended as the centre gets busier. You’ll find a mouth-watering selection of cakes, pastries, savouries and paninis and hot and cold drinks, as well as ice creams and other snacks. There are also vegan and vegetarian options.
If you’re interested in holding an event at the centre, enrolling for classes, which can be booked direct with the instructors and hosts, or would like to know more about renting the health space for your clients, please email eastleigh@ymca-fg.org.
